Douglas dial, who served three terms as mayor of Wyckoff during his three terms on the township committee, died Sept. 3. He was 84 years old. He was a US Navy veteran. He has also served on the school board, planning board and zoning board.
Jack Fitzpatricka former South Harrison mayor and school board member who previously ran away during Gloucester’s Democratic freeholder primary, died on August 22. He was 86 years old.
James Maranowho served two terms as mayor of East Hanover, died Aug. 15. He was 82 years old.
Donald Kowalwho spent sixteen years as an alderman in Clifton, died on August 18. He was 74 years old. He served on the board of Preakness Hospital and served as a trustee of the Passaic County Social Services Board for 34 years.
Girolamo Scaturoformer Chairman of the Board of Rahway, died August 22. He was 81 years old. A member of the United Auto Workers union, he represented Rahway’s Third Ward from 1996 to 2012.
Stephane Weila former Weehawken councilman, died Aug. 24. He was 78 years old. A member of the Plumbers Local 24 union, he was Weehawken’s plumbing inspector and a veteran of the United States Army.
Dorothee Hennesseywho served two terms with Wharton Borough Council, died on August 16. She was 94 years old.
Donald Rosser, former reporter for The Press of Atlantic City, died on August 9. He was 95 years old. Rosser previously worked for the Pierre Capital Journal and the Rapid City Journal in South Dakota, and from 1961 to 1986 was an editor and writer for the New Jersey Education Association. He served as a U.S. Army Air Cadet.
Albert Brogelformer Republican Municipal Chairman of Hamilton Township and longtime ally of Mayor Jack Rafferty, died Aug. 17. He was 94 years old. Brogel had been deputy director of a national motor vehicle agency and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Arlene Gordonwho worked on Kenneth Gibson’s mayoral campaign and spent 25 years at Newark City Hall, died Aug. 3. She was 79 years old. Gordon then worked for the Plainfield School Board and the Plainfield Police Department.
Paul Gamarellobailiff of Jersey City City Court for 17 years, died September 2. He was 79 years old.
Robert Cagnassolwho served on the New Jersey State Board of Accountancy for 25 years, died Aug. 16. He was 82 years old. Cagnassola was originally appointed to the State Council by Governor Thomas Kean in 1987.
Robert Englandlongtime Democratic Long Hill County committee member and former council candidate, died Aug. 12. He was 90 years old.
JoAnn Elcomember of the Absecon Democratic Club, died on August 9. She was 78 years old.
Betty Ann Brittonmember of the Thomas A. Mathis Republican Club of Forked River, died August 22. She was 94 years old.
Johnny Sheahana U.S. Navy veteran, volunteer firefighter and Mt. Ephraim Democratic Club, died Aug. 9. He was 58 years old.
Rose Marie Chasewho spent 30 years as a Republican Vineland County committee member, died Sept. 1. She was 94 years old.
Thomas Stormsmember of the Mt. Ephraim Democratic Club and member of Labor Local 332, died August 24. He was 52 years old.
Thomas Williamsmember of the Little Egg Harbor Republican Club, died August 26. He was 87 years old.
