Maruti Suzuki Podar Learn School in Sitapur, Gujarat Begins Academic, Auto News, ET Auto Session
New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced on Tuesday the start of the first academic year of the Maruti Suzuki Podar Learn School in Sitapur, Gujarat. The school was fully funded by the Maruti Suzuki Foundation with a capital investment of Rs 29 crores.
In October 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Maruti Suzuki Foundation and Podar Education Network (PEN) Limited to build “Maruti Suzuki Podar Learn School”, an upper secondary school in Sitapur. In April 2019, construction began on the school, which is now ready and open for the primary section, Maruti said in a statement.
“Our company philosophy is to pursue community development in and around our manufacturing facilities. The start of the first academic session at the Maruti Suzuki Podar Learn School in Sitapur is a fulfillment of this vision. We are happy to partner with Podar Education Network, which is a pioneer in providing quality education. The school is equipped to provide a comprehensive education, including extracurricular activities and personality development, to prepare students for the modern world, ”said Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India.
Currently, the school has enrolled over 100 students and has started online classes for the primary section. This will be followed by the secondary section gradually. Besides academic knowledge, the school curriculum is also designed to help students imbibe good ethics, develop moral character, and aim for overall personality development. The school will be affiliated to the Central Council for Secondary Education (CBSE).
Harsh Podar, Director of PEN, said: “The Podar Education Network is honored to partner with Maruti Suzuki on this school project. Through the Podar Learn School model, we have always strived to build a network of good quality CBSE / ICSE schools in rural and semi-urban India. Our highly experienced academic team will closely support the school and ensure that the quality of education is of the highest standards.
The school spans 4.45 acres with amenities such as a cafeteria, multi-sport playgrounds including a lawn tennis court, badminton court, volleyball court and ice rink, between other. In order to ensure personal attention, no more than 40 students per class will be enrolled. In addition, a team of over 100 educators from the ‘Podar Education Network’ designed the program.
State-of-the-art facilities include a library, math lab, computer lab, physics lab, chemistry lab, biology lab, music room, dance hall, and indoor activity room. In addition, the auditorium, cricket ground, football pitch and a swimming pool will be upgraded gradually. Construction of the school meets government standards with landscaping, green belt and rainwater harvesting, the statement added.
